Istanbul’s main Arts Festival takes place in a variety of historic buildings and venues across the city. The aim since its foundation in 1987 has been to bring together artists from home and abroad to encourage a free exchange of ideas and inspiration.
 

TOUR ITINERARY:

Sep 23 Sat Arrive to ISTANBUL
Our representative will meet you after the customs and baggage claim with a sign your name on it. You will be transferred to the hotel for check-in. A short briefing about your Istanbul stay will be given by your government licensed tour guide. Overnight in Istanbul.

Sep 24 Sun ISTANBUL (Old City Tour)
You will be picked up from the hotel and driven to the Sultan Ahmet district. Upon arrival, guests will be directed to the Roman Hippodrome area from which everyone will make their way to the Turkish and Islamic Art museum. After exploring the museum, you will be directed to the infamous Blue Mosque. Then, right across from the Blue Mosque, we will continue their tour to the Hagia Sophia. From there, we will proceed to Topkapi Palace. Lunch will be served at the Palace before heading to the last stop of the tour which will be to the main residence of the Ottoman Dynasty. After the tour, we will proceed to the hotel with enough time to get ready for dinner which will be served at the world famous Hamdi kebap restaurant. After dinner, we will proceed to the hotel for overnight.

Sep 25 Mon ISTANBUL (Istanbul Biennial & Art Walk)
After breakfast we will proceed to Istanbul Modern Art Museum. After exploring, guests will have lunch at the museum as well. After lunch, guests will walk over to Istanbul Biennial Exhibition Center which brings many artists from all over the world. Istanbul Biennial is full of art initiatives, projects, and publications along with art institutions and exhibitions. After exploring the Biennial, we will proceed to the Tophane district to visit multiple art galleries such as Egerean Art, Mana Art and etc… Once the walk is over, guests will be directed to the Marina seafood restaurant overlooking the Bosphorus. After dinner, we will head back to the hotel.

Sep 26 Tue ISTANBUL (History and Art)
After breakfast guests will be driven to Dolmabahce Palace. While there, we will proceed to visit the 19th century Ottoman Palace which became the main residence of the Ottoman Dynasty after 1856. After, guests will be driven to Sabanci University’s Sakip Sabanci Museum which is located in Emirgan – one of Istanbul’s oldest settlements on the Bosphorus. This museum holds a permanent calligraphy collection along with a possible Picasso or Dali exhibition. After a little exploring, we will proceed to have lunch and proceed to drive to Istiklal street where you will walk around and dabble in Turkish culture with exploring art galleries, boutiques and shops, restaurants, and etc…Before dinner, guests will have the chance to visit a local Turkish artist’s workshop where we will be treated with a first hand experience of what contemporary art means in Turkey. For dinner, we will go to NUPERA restaurant. (B, L, D)

Sep 27 Wed ISTANBUL (Markets, Bosphorus & Art Walk)
After breakfast we will proceed to the Grand Bazaar. Guests will explore one of the oldest closed market places in the world with over 3,000 mini shops and stands to see. From there you will be driven to the Spice Market which has been around since the 17th century and get to smell and see the wonderful spices of Turkey. After that, traditional Turkish style lunch will be served and from there you will proceed to your private boat for a tour of the Bosphorus strait. After the boat tour, you will be driven to Akaretler to visit a variety of great art galleries (such as Rampa, C.A.M., ArtON, and etc…). Once the tour of the galleries is done, you will be driven back to the hotel for dinner and overnight. (B, L, D)

Sep 28 Thu ISTANBUL Airport
You will enjoy your last breakfast in Turkey and will be driven to Istanbul airport to return home.

OPTIONAL EXTENSION TO PERGAMUM, EPHESUS & CAPPADOCIA Sep 28-Oct 02:

Sep 28 Thu Fly Izmir – Pergamum Tour – Izmir
Fly Izmir in the morning TK 316 09:00/10:00. Drive north to Bergama to visit the Pergamum Acropolis and the Asklepion, ancient healing center. Overnight Izmir. (B)

Sep 29 Fri Ephesus Tour – Izmir
Drive to Selcuk town to visit Ephesus, the most famous Greco-Roman city of Turkey. Visit the Odeion, Hadrian Temple, Trajan Fountain, Terrace Houses, Celsius Library, Marble Road, Great Theater, Harbor Road and more. Lunch in Selcuk. After lunch, visit a
handmade carpet cooperative where you will learn the Turkish handmade carpet weaving techniques and watch Turkish young women practicing their arts. Return to Izmir on the Aegean Sea Coast. Overnight Izmir. (B,L)

Sep 30 Sat Fly to Cappadocia
Transfer to Izmir Airport. Fly from Izmir to to Cappadocia. Meet and transfer to the hotel. After the check-in to the hotel. Optional($): dinner and folkloric dance show at a Cave Restaurant. (B)

Oct 01 Sun Full Day Cappadocia tour
Optional Hot Air Balloon Tour in early morning (06:00-08:00). Visit Goreme Open Air Museum, the Underground City, Pasabag Valley, and Avanos Village. (B)

Oct 02 Mon Cappadocia – Fly Istanbul
Early transfer to Cappadocia Airport. Fly to Istanbul. According your connection to US.
