Apr 29 Sun Depart from Portland – Fly to Istanbul

Apr 30 Mon Arrive Istanbul Airport – Fly Cappadocia
(Kayseri Airport)
Arrive Istanbul Airport. Your tour guide will meet you after the customs and baggage claim with a “JOHN JOHNSON” sign. Meet and walk to the domestic terminal for flight to Cappadocia. Upon arrival to Kayseri Airport, drive to the hotel for dinner and overnight. (D)

May 01 Tue Cappadocia
After breakfast you will have a full day of sightseeing in Cappadocia. You will visit Göreme where you will see remains of several hundred early churches, with rooms hollowed out of the cones of volcanic ash. Some of them are decorated with scratched frescoes depicting scenes from the Bible. You will drive through the Zelve valley on your way to Kaymakli, an underground city which was an early Christian center that extended downward in the earth for at least eight floors and housed several thousand people in the eighth and ninth centuries. You’ll continue to Uçhisar, another of these early Christian communities, before returning to your hotel for dinner and overnight. (B,L,D)

May 02 Wed Cappadocia – Konya – Antalya
After breakfast you will have an early departure to drive to Iconium where Paul and Barnabas used the synagogue as their forum to address the local people. They angered the authorities there and were warned in time to escape being attacked. You will continue to Antalya with a very scenic drive through the lakes and the rocky mountains. Dinner and overnight. (B,L,D)

May 03 Thu Antalya
After breakfast you will begin with a visit to Perga, an ancient city even when Paul visited there. He and Barnabas went through Perga on their way from and to Antioch on their first journey. You will visit the Perga Theater, the Agora Stadium, and the columned streets. You will also visit Aspendos, one of the best preserved theaters in the world, and Side where you will see the museum, theater, and temple. Dinner and overnight will be in the port city of Antalya . May 04 Fri Antalya – Myra – Board GULET (Wooden Yacht)
Our morning begins with a breathtaking drive along the Mediterranean coast. Visit the ancient site of Myra, with its lovely Roman theater and Lycian tombs. Today Myra is best known as the city of St. Nicholas, where he served as bishop in the fourth century A.D. After visiting Myra embark our private GULET (wooden yacht) where we will spend 5 nights. Dinner on board. (B,L,D)

May 05 Sat Sail by Gulet – Simena - Kekova
Visit Simena and see the ruins of the Sunken City. Breakfast, Lunch and
Dinner on board. (B,L,D)

May 06 Sun Sail by Gulet – Kas Village – Xanthos – Patara – Kalkan
Leave the Gulet Boat at Kas Village. Visit to ancient Xanthos. Designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1988, Xanthos was ancient Lycia’s largest and most important city. We’ll then continue on to Patara, an ancient city visited by Paul (Acts 21:2) which features a beautiful theater and lighthouse. Dinner and overnight in Kalkan. (B,L,D)

May 07 Mon Sail by Gulet – Kalkan – Gemiler Island
Sail to Gemiler Island. Hike up and see the ruins of the Byzatine Church at the island. (B,L,D)

May 08 Tue Sail by Gulet –Kalkan – Gemiler Island – Fethiye
Sail to Fethiye. Visit the ruins of Telmessos and Fethiye village. Overnight at Fethiye Marina. (B,L,D)

May 09 Wed Fethiye – Leave Gulet – Drive Pamukkale
Leave Gulet boat and drive to Pamukkale. First drive to Colossae (Paul’s letter to the Colossians) on the foothills of Mount Honaz. You will continue to Laodicea , one of the Seven Churches of Revelation, and Hierapolis where you will visit the monuments, thermal baths and the theater with its well preserved stage and Temple of Apollo. Dinner and overnight will be in Pamukkale. (B,L,D)

May 10 Thu Ephesus Tour – Early Evening Fly Istanbul
Morning drive to Ephesus, the first of the Seven Churches, for a visit. You will see the amazing ruins of this great city: the theater, the library, the Temple of Hadrian and the newly excavated Roman Terrace Houses. Transfer to Izmir Airport for 19:00/20:05 flight to Istanbul. Dinner & overnight at the hotel in Istanbul. (B,L,D)

May 11 Fri Istanbul Tour
Today we explore the wonders of Istanbul. Beginning with the stunning, subterranean Basilica Cistern, we move on to the Golden Mile of the Egnatian Way, Hippodrome Square, and the breathtaking Blue Mosque as well as the magnificent, 1700-year-old Hagia Sophia, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Afterwards, we will make our way to Istanbul’s Archaeological Museum—one of the most celebrated collections in the world. Among its treasures are the Siloam inscription, the Gezer calendar, and the stunning “Jerusalem mosaic” depicting Orpheus. In the late afternoon, we will take a leisurely private boat tour along the Bosphorus, the legendary waterway that connects the Black Sea to the Mediterranean, and divides Istanbul into two continents: Asia and Europe. Return to the hotel for dinner and overnight. (B,L,D).

May 12 Sat Istanbul Airport – Fly back to Portland – End
